247Sports national college football writer Chris Hummer reports that former Oklahoma running back Gavin Sawchuk is headed to Northwestern. Sawchuk spent the 2025 season at Florida State after a late transfer portal entry in 2024. On 109 carries he gained 486 yards with eight touchdowns for a 4.46 yard per carry average with the Seminoles.  He added 13 receptions for 121 yards and a receiving touchdown.

Over the course of his four-year career, he has appeared in 35 contests, rushing for 1,463 yards on 285 carries with 19 touchdowns. His best season came in 2023 with Oklahoma when he carried 120 times for 744 yards and nine touchdowns.

Out of Littleton, Colo. and Valor Christian High School, Sawchuk was a consensus four-star product and the number one rated prospect in the State of Colorado. He chose the Sooners over Notre Dame, Ohio State, USC, and many others.

Oklahoma linebacker Kobie McKenzie committed to Northwestern earlier in the transfer portal which closed on Friday, January 16.
