Tennessee Baseball suffered a rough 7-4 loss in the opening game of the series against No. 25 Ole Miss, as the Rebels jumped on starter Landon Mack early and never looked back.

Usually this season, the Vols (25-13, 7-9 SEC) have had to hope the bullpen could maintain the good start from the rotation, but Friday felt different as Mack allowed six earned runs over 5.1 innings.

Now Saturday starter Teghan Kuhns faces a big game-two start; he enters the contest with a season line including a 3.77 ERA, 45.1 IP, and 54 strikeouts.

The offense will also need to bring some more insurance. They tallied seven hits on Friday, but stranded six runners on base.

Time's running out for the Vols to make a push, and a series loss would certainly put a strain on that.
