Michigan pursued QB Byrd Ficklin after Kyle Whittingham’s departure, according to former Utah coach Ron McBride.
The Utes’ roster has been revamped by Morgan Scalley, who is positioned for success in his first season as head coach. Ficklin wanted to stay in Salt Lake City to learn under Devon Dampier.
