It's shaping up to be an exciting time in Seattle sports, that's for sure.
For starters, the Seattle Mariners just clinched their first American League West title since 2001 by beating the Colorado Rockies 9-2 on Wednesday night. The Mariners, who have never been to the World Series, are in position to get a first-round bye in the playoffs.
Secondly, the Seattle Seahawks are out to a nice 2-1 start on the season, and they have a chance to move to 3-1 when they play the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday night in Arizona.
And the Washington Huskies, fresh off a win in the Apple Cup against Washington State, are 3-0 and getting ready to host the No. 1-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes at Husky Stadium.
That game will be Saturday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. PT, and it will represent the biggest game in Seattle since Washington played Oregon in 2023. It's the Big 10 opener for both teams and it's also the first time that the two teams have met since Washington joined the Big 10 in 2024.
And we now know which uniforms U-Dub will be wearing for that contest, as it was announced by Washington's social media account. The Huskies will go with the traditional gold helmets, purple uniforms and purple pants.
This is the first time that Washington is breaking out this combo in 2025. They previously wore purple jerseys and gold pants against Colorado State and UC Davis, while wearing all-white in the win over the Cougars.
Ohio State is also 3-0 on the young season, having already beaten previously-No. 1 ranked Texas, Grambling and Ohio. The Buckeyes are also the defending national champions, though they did lose several key pieces from that team, including quarterback Will Howard.
Washington will hope that Ohio State's long flight across the country, coupled with the pressure of a hostile road environment, will help them earn their biggest victory since getting to the national title game in that 2023 campaign.
