Tom Brady didn’t want the San Francisco 49ers’ season defined by one brutal night in Seattle.
As the Seahawks pulled away to a 41-6 Divisional Round win, Brady used the broadcast to put the spotlight on what he described as an extraordinary year for the Niners.
"It’s just kind of remarkable what this Niners team has done this year, to celebrate them. I know tonight it’s a blowout. It’s 41-6. But the resilience, the adversity they’ve dealt with all year with the injuries. This is just an incredible organization led by Kyle Shanahan. They do so many things the right way. To get to this point is nothing short of a miracle."
No team carried a heavier financial burden from injured players, yet the 49ers still found a way to win 12 games and reach the postseason’s second round.
As Brady pointed out, many teams would have unraveled under those circumstances. Instead, San Francisco pushed on, making their season one that deserves recognition beyond the scoreboard.
