The 49ers are bringing back one of their key special teams contributors, announcing the re-signing of linebacker Luke Gifford to a two-year contract.

This move ensures the 49ers retain a versatile defender who made a strong impact during his first season in San Francisco.

Originally entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Dallas Cowboys in 2019, Gifford has steadily built a reputation as a reliable depth linebacker and special teams ace.

Over his seven-year career with the Cowboys (2019–2022), Tennessee Titans (2023–2024), and 49ers, he has appeared in 90 games with 14 starts.

Across those appearances, he has recorded 61 defensive tackles, three passes defensed, one interception, one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries, along with 69 career special teams tackles.
