The Bears needed to make an addition to the wide receiver room just to add another veteran for depth behind Rome Odunze and Luther Burden III.

They made their move on Tuesday, signing Kalif Raymond, previously with the Detroit Lions, and a player who has experience working with both Ben Johnson and Antwaan Randle El.

Raymond spent five seasons in Detroit and totaled 171 catches and 2,185 receiving yards during that five-year span. In 2025, he had 24 catches, 289 yards, and one touchdown.

But it's important to note that he's more than just a wide receiver. He's also a good returner.

Devin Duvernay is a free agent. He only signed a one-year deal with the Bears last offseason. And Raymond has been a pretty explosive return threat for the Lions recently. He has had a punt return touchdown in three of the last four seasons, being named a second-team All-Pro returner in 2022 and 2024.

The kick return experience is more limited, but I think Bears fans should expect Raymond to have a decent role on special teams as a possible punt return option for Chicago next season.
