The Buccaneers added a member of Indiana’s national championship coaching staff to their staff for the 2026.
The team agreed to terms Tuesday with Chandler Whitmer, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported.
The 34-year-old Illinois native was the co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Hoosiers. He helped develop quarterback Fernando Mendoza into a Heisman Trophy winner and, in all likelihood, the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Whitmer has four years of NFL experience. He spent three seasons (2021-2023) as offensive quality control coach for the Los Angeles Chargers and was the pass game specialist for the Atlanta Falcons in 2024.
Whitmer was also a graduate assistant at Ohio State in 2019 and Clemson in 2020.
The former UConn quarterback worked under Indiana offensive coordinator Mike Shanahan, who helped lead the Hoosiers to a 16-0 season and a national title win over the Miami Hurricanes on Jan. 19.
