The Kansas City Chiefs started the season 0-2, and NFL fans across the country were rejoicing that the dynasty was finally over.

However, things have changed quickly as the Chiefs got Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice back, and now have an offense that resembles the early days of the Patrick Mahomes era.

They are 4-1 in their last five games, and have averaged 32.5 points during that stretch.

Up next is a Monday Night Football matchup with a Washington Commanders team that gave up 44 points to the Dallas Cowboys last week.

To make things worse, quarterback Jayden Daniels is out, and Marcus Mariota will once again be the starter. In some positive news for the Commanders, wide receivers Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel are both back after missing time with injuries.

Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET, and the game will be on ESPN. There will also be an alternate broadcast with the ManningCast.

The Commanders would like nothing better than to pull off the big upset at Arrowhead Stadium on Monday night.

Come along and join us here at Chiefs Roundtable as we keep track of what's happening in the game.

CHIEFS WIN THE TOSS, and will defer until the second half.

WAS 1st Drive: Outstanding first drive called by Kingsbury, as the Commanders got the ball inside the Chiefs 20... However, Deebo Samuel bobbles a pass and Chiefs defensive tackle Mike Danna gets the interception....

If the Commanders get in the redzone tonight, it HAS to be seven points.

KC 1st Drive: Very similar first drive that the Commanders had. The Chiefs went right down the field, and the Marshon Lattimore gets the pick deep in Commanders territory. Lattimore has had a very difficult start to this season, but that is a big time response right there.

WAS 2nd Drive: Once again, a short, quick passing game gets the Commanders in Chiefs territory, but Zach Ertz is called just short on fourth down. Chiefs take over.

END OF First: Commanders are battling, but two good drives have ended with 0 points. Going to the second quarter tied at 0, Chiefs facing a 3rd and 4 from their own 41 when we come back.

KC 2nd Drive: Who could have predicted this... Mahomes throws his second interception of the night. This one is squarely on Travis Kelce, who dropped an easy first down.

WAS 3rd Drive: Lack of a kicker is making things tough for the Commanders, as another promising drive ends on a fourth down. No score, Chiefs get the ball back with good field position.

KC 3rd Drive: Methodical drive by the Chiefs. Mahomes hit Kelce for 42 yards on that drive. It appeared Rice scored out of the wildcat, but he was just short of the endzone. No problem, as Kareem Hunt scores on the next play.

Chiefs 7, Commanders 0 with 5:46 remaining in the half... Chiefs get the ball to start the second half, so the Commanders can't give them the ball to and allow them to double-dip.

WAS 4th Drive: Mariota is playing terrific tonight. He has broken out of multiple sacks, and hits Terry McLaurin on a beautiful pass for a touchdown.

Chiefs 7, Commanders 7 with 0:58 seconds remaining in the half. Chiefs have one timeout remaining.

KC 4th Drive: Chiefs get one completion, but we are tied at 7 going to the half. Commanders have to love the style in this game. It is ugly, which is how this game needs to be to get the win.

Chiefs get the ball to start the half.

HALFTIME: Chiefs 7, Commanders 7

Second Half is Rolling:

KC Drive: That is a big time response by the Chiefs. Kelce once again a huge part of that drive, as he got a 38-yard catch to give the Chiefs goal to go.... Then on 4th and Goal from the 2, Mahomes finds Kareem Hunt for his second touchdown of the night.

KC 14, Washington 7 with 10:12 left in the third quarter.

WAS Drive: Commanders drive starts with a brutal mistake by Jaylin Lane, who bobbles the kick. The ball goes out of bounds and the Commanders have to start with it at the one. Mariota did a nice job to get the team in better position, but they are forced to punt. Chiefs will start with the ball at the 25 with an opportunity to really create some separation.

KC Drive: Chiefs are rolling now. Mahomes hits Kelce for a touchdown, and with that score he ties Priest Holmes for most touchdowns in Chiefs history.

KC 21, Washington 7 with 3:20 remaining in the third quarter.

WAS Drive: It has gone from bad to worse, as Mariota is sacked to end the drive and give the Chiefs the ball back.

KC 21, Washington 7 end of 3rd

KC Drive: Clinical second half by the Chiefs. That is three drives and three touchdowns... Rashee RIce this time scores for Kansas City, and the route is on at Arrowhead.

KC 28, Washington 7 with 7:52 remaining in the game

WAS Drive: Nothing doing for the Commanders, and they are forced to punt. Imagine you might see Gardner Minshew in at quarterback, or at least strictly just runs called.

Final Score: Chiefs 28, Commanders 7

Chiefs move to 5-3 while the Commanders fall to 3-5. HUGE game next week in Buffalo with major playoff implications.
