On Monday, the Indianapolis Colts designated offensive tackle Bayron Matos with their international exemption.
The timing is interesting, so close to the draft, because there are a couple of international players in the draft -- defensive tackle Uar Bernard (Nigeria) and edge Joshua Weru (Kenya) -- that would qualify if the Colts draft or sign them.
The Colts can still acquire either of Bernard or Weru, but only one player can get the international designation.
That spot does not count toward the 90-player offseason roster limit, or the 16-man practice squad limit when the regular season begins.
