The Indianapolis Colts have tabbed long snapper Luke Rhodes as their award winner for the Salute to Service award.
According to a press release from Colts Communications:
"Luke Rhodes has maintained a longstanding commitment to honoring service members, veterans and their families throughout his NFL career, inspired by the military service of his late father, Doug Rhodes. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Doug served as a Marine Corps helicopter pilot for 22 years, instilling in Luke a deep appreciation for the sacrifices of military personnel.
"Throughout his 11 NFL seasons, Luke consistently has used his platform to create meaningful experiences for members of the military community:
- "Through the Colts Ticket Block Program, he has welcomed military personnel and families to Lucas Oil Stadium, providing opportunities to attend games and connect with the team.
- He has participated in the Colts' Salute to Service Flag Football tournament, which brought members of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines to Colts headquarters for a day of competition and camaraderie.
- Through the NFL's My Cause My Cleats initiative, Luke has supported INVETS, an Indiana-based nonprofit that helps veterans transition to civilian life."
