As of tonight, the Washington Commanders have re-signed 8 of their 32 pending free agents, bringing back several veterans and depth pieces ahead of the start of NFL free agency. Washington kept a core special teams presence by re-signing Pro Bowl punter Tress Way, who has been one of the franchise’s most consistent players and the team’s punting yards leader.  Along the offensive line, the Commanders extended Andrew Wylie and Nick Allegretti on two-year deals, keeping experienced depth in the interior while maintaining continuity in a unit that dealt with injuries last season.  On the defensive side, Washington brought back Deatrich Wise Jr., Drake Jackson, and Shy Tuttle on short-term deals to maintain rotational depth along the defensive front. Wise returns after a quad injury ended his 2025 season early, while Tuttle re-signed after joining the team late last year and appearing in limited snaps.  The team also retained kicker Jake Moody and wide receiver Treylon Burks, the former a reliable option in limited action last season and the latter a former first-round pick who joined Washington midseason as the team dealt with injuries at wide receiver.  With free agency approaching, Washington still has the majority of its free agents unresolved, meaning more roster moves could be on the way as the front office continues shaping the team for the 2026 season.
