Linebacker Devin Lloyd left a hole in the Jackson Jaguars defense when he left for the Carolina Panthers via free agency, but head coach Liam Coen is confident a replacement is already on the roster.

During the NFL’s annual league meeting on March 31 in Phoenix, the Jaguars’ second-year coach said third-year linebacker Ventrell Miller has the chance to fill Lloyd’s shoes.

"Any time you can give a player confidence without telling them anything ... like right now, if you're him and we haven't signed anybody, you should say well at least they believe in me,” Coen said when asked about Miller’s opportunity. “At least they think I can do it. And now it is on him and us to do it together. But also like dude, now is time. Now is the time to truly take it over. There is going to be an opportunity there."

Last season the former Florida Gator played in 17 games and recorded 17 solo tackles. In his career Miller for Jacksonville, he has played in 32 games with 11 starts, has made 70 solo tackles, forced three fumbles and has an interception.
