Although the Jacksonville Jaguars didn’t have a first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft after trading for former Heisman Trophy Winner Travis Hunter last season, general manager James Gladstone was open to a trade to get back into the first round, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

According to Schefter, the Jaguars were considering trading away their first-round pick in 2027 to make the move.

"The Jacksonville Jaguars actually considered, this year, trading up and back into the first round in a draft that a lot of people didn't love to give away their first-round draft pick next year in the 2027 draft that everybody can't wait for," Schefter said on his podcast with guests Mel Kiper Jr. and Field Yates.

Schefter went on to say that Gladstone was looking to capitalize on a potentially loaded 2027 class to gain more capital for next year’s draft.

With no team willing to make the trade the Jaguars selected Texas A&M tight end Nate Boerkircher with their first pick in the second round (No. 56).

Along with keeping their first round pick, Jacksonville could potentially have 10 picks in the 2027 draft.
