Travis Etienne is apparently a favorite on the wish lists of NFL teams who might be able to afford to sign a top-notch tailback in free agency this March.
An opaque, "NFL insiders have long believed" kind of report sort of asserts that the Chicago Bears "will be suitors" of Etienne, should the Jacksonville Jaguars' dual-threat running back opt for free agency.
The suggestion -- it's hard to call it a report -- offers that the Bears could opt out of starting RB D'Andre Swift's three-year contract, as "some will see" a straight-up swap of Swift for Etienne this offseason.
Thank goodness for Jacksonville that "sources say" Etienne is a better fit for the Jags' current offense under now second-year coach Liam Coen -- though another "report" that reported Saturday on the initial "reporting" pointed out the original poster "misspoke" and "meant to say" that ETN would be more suited to Ben Johnson's offense in Chicago.
We have apparently entered Silly Season.
