After losing three-straight games to kick off the 2025 NFL season, the New York Jets' week four battle against the Miami Dolphins is now a must-win game for the struggling franchise.

The New York Jets, after dropping the first three games of the 2025 NFL season, have yet to find their identity on both sides of the ball this year.

Luckily for newly-hired head coach Aaron Glenn, two out of the three losses for the Jets this season have been one-score loses, which is a huge sign of growth for the franchise. However, the growth and development must begin to yield victories in order to change the course of the season.

With New York still searching for their first win of the year, Glenn and his squad have the perfect opportunity in week four to get back on track when they take on the Miami Dolphins on Monday night.

The fellow AFC East conference member joins the Jets as one of six teams to start the season with an 0-3 record, as the Dolphins had to face both the Indianapolis Colts and the Buffalo Bills this season. However, it's clear that Miami's defense has been below average this year, causing the offense to play 'catch-up' for a majority of the contests.

With both teams in a similar boat this year, there are plenty of avenues for the Jets to exploit the Dolphins defense and walk into next week with their first win.

One of the key ways that Miami's opponents have attacked their defense this season has been through the efforts on the ground. The Dolphins have averaged the fifth-most rushing yards allowed per game this year at 145 rushing yards while managing to give up 108 rushing yards to Bills' running back James Cook in week three. Miami's inability to stop the run has paved the way to the team's losses this season, as opponents are able to control the line of scrimmage.

Fortunately for the Jets, their offensive attack features a dynamic one-two punch of running backs Breece Hall and Braelon Allen. This is the first time that the offense will not face a stout front seven this season, which means the run game could see a huge increase in workload on Monday.

As for the defense, Glenn's aggressive style on defense could force Dolphins' quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to make mistakes through the air. The former 2020 first-round pick has thrown four interceptions this season, making for a tough matchup this week.

If the Jets can walk away with a win on the road during a primetime matchup, it could help change the direct of this season while re-establishing themselves amongst the rest of the AFC East. A win would also create momentum for the organization heading into their week five battle against the Dallas Cowboys, which could be another winnable game for New York. If not, the Jets would fall to last place in the division while still having to face the Broncos, Ravens, Falcons and the Bills to end the 2025 season.
