According to multiple reports, the New York Jets have traded for this Tennessee Titans' young cornerback on Tuesday.

The New York Jets, after beginning the 2025 NFL season with three-straight losses, have already started to make moves to address the poor defensive efforts.

According to NFL insider Dianna Russini, the Jets have acquired Tennessee Titans' cornerback Jarvis Brownlee Jr. and a 2026 seventh-round pick for a 2026 sixth-round pick.

The addition of a young cornerback comes after the Jets' most recent loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in week three, as the defense allowed quarterback Baker Mayfield to throw for 233 passing yards and one touchdown while completing 66 percent of his attempts. Outside of star cornerback Sauce Gardner, New York's defense lacked a second cornerback that could play on the boundary, paving the way to the team's acquisition of Brownlee.

As a former fifth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Brownlee showed plenty of promise throughout his time in college. In his five seasons with the Florida State Seminoles and Louisville Cardinals, Brownlee recorded 16 pass breakups and six interceptions while playing in the slot and outside. His combination of raw strength and speed made him an intriguing prospect, which eventually translated to the NFL.

Brownlee became an instant-impact player for the Titans in 2024, as he played over 900 snaps for head coach Brian Callahan while tallying six pass breakups and one interception. But with former 2022 second-round pick Roger McCreary beginning to establish himself alongside L'Jarius Sneed, Tennessee was able to flip the young playmaker.

For the Jets, Brownlee is the perfect addition to a secondary unit that lacks depth. Veteran cornerback Brandon Stephens has struggled in his first three starts for New York, which means Brownlee could become a plug-and-play cornerback for the rest of the season.

The trade also allows for the team's 2025 third-round pick Azareye'h Thomas to develop under two cornerbacks that have experience in the NFL. Thomas has all the intangibles to become a talented defensive back, but this move allows him to be eased into a potential starting role in the future.
