Did you know that back in 1922, the Packers were facing a ban from Pro Football for using 3-6 collegiate athletes from Notre Dame in a game against Racine. Bears coach, George Halas was instrumental in persuading league officials to allow Green Bay to stay in the league. Whats funny is that George Halas actually signed one of these players afterwards. But the story doesn't end here, during the Great Depression, Halas was having financial troubles paying the players and keeping the Bears afloat, so Green Bay gave them loans to stay afloat, which turned out to be a $1,500 loan in 1932 (about $28,072.34 today.) So in turn, our greatest rival, may be our greatest friend.
