We’re on site at Bank of America Stadium and will be updating you on Dolphins-Panthers throughout the afternoon. Feel free to comment and react in real time.
I’m calling for a 27-21 Panthers win. What do you think will happen?
1:02 p.m. -- Panthers win the toss, defer the kickoff. Carolina starts DJ Wonnum, who was listed as active just this morning, at edge rusher
1:08 p.m. -- Third down and 6 from the Panthers' 48: Tua hits Waller for a 33-yard gain over the middle of the field.
1:13 p.m. -- After beating his man and nearly getting to Tua on that third down, Nic Scourton makes consecutive tackles in the red-zone, which set up another key third down. The Dolphins have a breakdown and leave Derrick Brown unblocked for a sack. Miami hits a field goal to strike first, 3-0.
1:20 p.m. -- Bryce Young found Tetairoa McMillan on a corner route to convert on third down. However, with Carolina in Miami territory, Young fumbled the ball before Bradley Chubb — the pride of NC State — even made contact with him in the backfield. Chubb recovered to give Miami the ball back. As a side note, Jimmy Horn Jr. made his NFL debut on the second play of the drive.
1:27 p.m. -- After the turnover, the Dolphins' offense marched right back into the red-zone. Tua hit Jaylen Waddle on a third-down play that actually ended with Waddle being tended to for an injury. Waddle would return three plays later. On fourth and five -- from Carolina's 40 -- Miami converted again with another sideline pattern (this time to Waller).
1:31 p.m. -- End of the 1st quarter: Dolphins 3, Panthers 0. Right before the quarter expired, Tua fired a strike to Waddle for yet another third-down conversion.
1:36 p.m. -- On the first play of the second quarter, Tua lobs a back-corner ball to De'Von Achane, who hauls in the touchdown with Trevin Wallace in coverage. It's yet another third-down conversion (Miami is now 4 for 6 on third down with a fourth-down conversion as well). The Dolphins ran 14 plays on the 58-yard touchdown drive. Dolphins lead 10-0.
1:43 p.m. -- On the second play of the drive, Young overshoots Xavier Legette and is picked off by Minkah Fitzpatrick. A smattering of boos followed. Carolina is suddenly in the danger zone at home.
1:48 p.m. -- Miami cashes in on another Young turnover. Tua finds Waller for in the back of the end-zone to stretch the lead to 17-0.
1:59 p.m. -- On fourth down, Young rolled out and created a first down — with a dart to McMillan — out of nothing. Then he got Carolina on the board with an end-zone fade to Xavier Legette, who hauls in his first touchdown of the season. It's a 12-play, 76-yard drive. Game on — Dolphins still lead 17-7.
2:12 p.m. -- A'Shawn Robinson sacks Tua on third down to keep Miami scoreless on a drive for the first time today. It is Carolina's third sack of the season, while no other NFL team entered today with fewer than four. The Panthers will get the ball with a chance to score before halftime.
2:25 p.m. -- The Panthers moved the ball into the red-zone with McMillan catching a third-down slant inside the 15 yard line. Carolina stopped the clock with seven seconds remaining after a quarterback spike. Ryan Fitzgerald drills a 35-yard field goal as time expires in the first half. (Dolphins 17, Panthers 10)
