Fourteen seasons into an illustrious career, Harrison Smith continues to prove he belongs among the NFL’s elite.

The Minnesota Vikings safety was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week after a commanding performance in a win over the Detroit Lions.

This victory officially ended Detroit’s playoff hopes.

Smith delivered timely impact plays, finishing with an interception and a sack while anchoring a defense that overwhelmed one of the league’s top offenses.

At 36 years old, Smith acknowledged the emotional weight of the moment, saying the excitement felt like being a kid again.

He credited the full defensive unit, calling it one of the strongest group efforts he has experienced.

Minnesota held the Lions to just 10 points and 231 yards, forcing six turnovers and consistently disrupting quarterback Jared Goff.

Defensive coordinator Brian Flores praised Smith’s intelligence and approach, noting his lasting influence on the organization.

Regardless of what the future holds, Smith’s résumé and leadership have already cemented his place as one of the most excellent Vikings of all time.
