Despite swirling rumors that he could be released this offseason, running back Aaron Jones will remain with the Minnesota Vikings after agreeing to a revised contract that lowers his base salary for the upcoming season.
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Media, Jones has agreed to reduce his base salary to $5.5 million.
Prior to the adjustment, the veteran running back was scheduled to earn $9 million, a figure that had sparked speculation Minnesota might move on from him to create additional cap space.
The move gives the Vikings stability in their backfield heading into the 2026 campaign while also helping the team maintain financial flexibility.
Jones appeared in 12 games for Minnesota in 2025, carrying the ball 132 times for 548 yards and two touchdowns. He also contributed in the passing game, hauling in 28 receptions as a reliable outlet option out of the backfield.
