The Minnesota Vikings are 5-0, but the most interesting part of their undefeated start might be how much better this team can still become.
On this episode of the Vikings Roundtable, Halk breaks down Minnesota’s 23-13 win over the New Orleans Saints and why it may have been the team’s most complete performance of the season. Kyler Murray continued to look more comfortable in Kevin O’Connell’s offense, Aaron Jones topped 100 rushing yards and Justin Jefferson returned with another touchdown.
We also dive into Brian Flores’ defense, which has become the identity of this team. Minnesota continues to create turnovers, pressure quarterbacks and control games without needing the offense to score 30 every week.
Halk also highlights several trends that explain the 5-0 start, including the Vikings’ dominance in turnover margin, their long sack streak, Will Reichard’s incredible run of made field goals and how efficiently Murray has been throwing the football over the past two weeks.
The bye week could not come at a better time either. T.J. Hockenson, Jordan Addison, Christian Darrisaw and several other key players have been dealing with injuries, while Odell Beckham Jr. remains an intriguing depth option.
Finally, we look ahead to a difficult upcoming stretch against Indianapolis, Detroit, Buffalo and Green Bay. Minnesota is already undefeated. If the offense keeps improving, the NFC could have a serious problem.
