Viktor Gyokeres has been nominated for February’s Premier League Player of the Month, with David Raya up for Save of the Month and Martin Zubimendi shortlisted for Goal of the Month.

Arsenal have three players in contention for Premier League monthly awards after the club confirmed February nominations for Viktor Gyokeres, David Raya and Martin Zubimendi.

Gyokeres has been shortlisted for the Premier League’s EA SPORTS Player of the Month award after a productive February that included four goals in four league matches. The striker began the month with a two-goal burst as a substitute against Sunderland and ended it with another brace in the 4-1 north London derby win at Tottenham.

Gyokeres’ goals took him into double figures in the league in his first Arsenal season. Voting is open via the Premier League’s site, with results decided by a combination of public vote and an expert panel.

Raya nominated again for Save of the Month

David Raya has received his third Premier League Save of the Month nomination in as many months after producing a brilliant reaction save to deny Brentford’s Igor Thiago during Arsenal’s 1-1 draw in west London in February.

Zubimendi’s Sunderland strike shortlisted for Goal of the Month

Martin Zubimendi’s precise drive against Sunderland has been nominated for February’s Premier League Goal of the Month award.

With the score still goalless and Arsenal struggling to break down a resilient Sunderland defence, the midfielder provided the breakthrough three minutes before half-time. Zubimendi collected a pass from Leandro Trossard just outside the box and drilled a low shot in off the near post to put Arsenal in front.

What it says about Arsenal’s February

Although dropping points to Wolves and Brentford, the spread of nominations across striker, goalkeeper and midfielder reflects some of the individual performances that kept Arsenal in the title race. Gyokeres’ inclusion is a reward for decisive finishing, while Raya and Zubimendi’s nominations point to the other side of Arsenal’s season: match-saving moments and filled with goals.

Arsenal’s nominees will be confirmed or beaten by the public vote and panel decisions next week, but the club’s presence across categories is another indicator of a side producing both individual highlights and the consistency that tends to underpin a title challenge.
