Arsenal have had four players selected in the latest England squad after Thomas Tuchel named a 35-man group for the March friendlies against Uruguay and Japan. Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke are all included for the two Wembley fixtures as England continue their preparations for the 2026 World Cup.
England face Uruguay at Wembley on Friday, March 27 before taking on Japan on Tuesday, March 31. Tuchel has opted for a larger group than usual for this camp, explaining that players will report in two stages across the international window as he continues to assess options ahead of the tournament this summer.
From an Arsenal perspective, the standout point is the scale of the club’s representation. Rice remains one of England’s central figures, while Saka’s inclusion underlines his status as one of Tuchel’s most important attacking options. Eze and Madueke are also in the squad, giving Arsenal four players in the senior group and one of the strongest club contingents in the camp.
The official squad list places Rice among the midfielders, with Eze, Madueke and Saka all named in the forward line. That spread across key areas of the pitch is another indication of how heavily England are drawing from Arteta’s squad at this stage of the cycle.
Tuchel said the larger group is partly designed to widen the picture before the World Cup, with players reporting in two stages across the camp. That means these fixtures are about more than preparation alone. They are also part of England’s final assessment process before the summer.
For Arsenal’s quartet, that gives the camp extra relevance. Rice and Saka already look likely to have major roles when the World Cup begins, but this window still matters in terms of rhythm, fitness and hierarchy. For Eze and Madueke, it is another chance to strengthen their position in an attacking group where competition remains high.
For Arsenal, the call-ups are another sign of the level the squad has reached. Four England selections in one senior squad is significant in itself, but it also comes during one of the busiest points of the season, with Arteta’s side still competing on multiple fronts.
That is why the timing feels important as well as impressive. Arsenal are asking the same core of players to carry a heavy schedule deep into March, and Rice made that clear after the win over Bayer Leverkusen when he said: “I am completely exhausted. It never stops. We are still competing in all tournaments, so we’ve been facing tough matches every three days since October. We are doing our best to cope with it, but it’s difficult.”
The England call-ups therefore reflect both Arsenal’s quality and the demands now being placed on their squad. Four players heading into Tuchel’s camp is a positive for the club, but it also adds another layer to an already relentless stretch of the season.
