After an eventful summer transfer window, Chelsea were looking like the team to beat. They won the Club World Cup prior to their brilliant start to this season's Premier league.
After their 3-0 win over Barcelona, they have gone winless for four games, and things started going wrong for the Blues.
Enzo Maresca and the club management have been quite adamant on their stance of being inactive during the up coming winter transfer window, but as things have dramatically gone wrong for the Blues, the club might have to get back to the drawing board soon.
The Chelsea midfield has been part of the recent talking points for the fans. Romeo Lavia and Andrey Santos have been rarely trusted by Maresca this season ahead of Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez, while Reece James and Malo Gusto has been playing as Midfielders mostly.
Now according to TEAMtalk, The Club is closely monitoring Barcelona midfielder Marc Casado. He is rumoured to be looking for options in the transfer window.
The 22-year-old has made 15 appearances for the Catalan side this season, and most of them were as a substitute. This has seemingly made Casado look for other options ahead of the World Cup next year.
In a midfield consisting of Pedri, Gavi, Frenkie De Jong, Bernal, Garcia, Lopez and Dani Olmo, Casado has found it tough to break in as a starter for the Blaugranas, but there is no denying that the player has the talent to flourish if the right opportunity arrives.
There were talks of a possible move to West Ham during the summer, but Barca were able to keep hold of their player back then as Barca manager commented on the situation saying,
"I spoke with Marc Casado. I don’t see him wanting to leave the team, nor do I think I want that either. I don’t want to lose any players."
But now with limited playing time under the Spaniard's belt, things might change as Barcelona could let go of their talented youngster during the winter transfer window.
Previously, Chelsea have shown interest in some other Barcelona players. Fermin Lopez, Eric Garcia, Joules Kounde and Ronaldo Araujo are all on the clubs radar. The Ckub submitted a formal bid for Fermin last summer, but as it stands, the Blues might take advantage of Casado's situation at Barca. The goal would be to sign him during the course of the upcoming transfer window in order to bolster their midfield.
