Chelsea will look to regain their lost momentum when they travel to Italy for an all important Champions league clash against Atalanta after failing to pick up a win during their last three matches.
The Blues looked like a formidable force when they faced Barcelona in their previous UCL tie, as they won 3-0 against the five time European champions. They secured a crucial point against league leaders Arsenal despite their star player Moises Caicedo being sent off in the 38th minute of the game.
But things quickly changed for Enzo Maresca's men as they were beaten 3-1 by a struggling Leeds side, and prior to that played out a goalless draw against Bournemouth last weekend which has seemingly put a huge dent on their title hopes.
The Chelsea manager's team selection has been heavily criticised over the past couple of games, but injuries have been a major setback for the Italian coach. Some of his main players have spent quite a few matches recovering from their physical issues.
Cole Palmer has undoubtedly been one of them, as he spent over two months while recovering and it seems the England international star is still not fully fit.
According to METRO, Palmer did not feature in the Blues' final training session before flying off to Italy for their match against Atalanta. He will be left out of the squad for Champions league game tomorrow as the club management has decided to preserve him for a grueling December, where the Blues will have to play a total of six more games (including the one against Atalanta).
Palmer is not the only player who will miss tomorrow's game. Striker Liam Delap is set to be out for a long time after he picked up a shoulder injury which looked pretty 'bad' according to the Manager.
Chelsea currently sit in the seventh position in the UCL table and are aiming for a top eight finish, which is easier said than done. A single draw or defeat could change things dramatically for the Blues.
As of now, Maresca is saving Palmer for the match against Everton next weekend, which the Blues will be desperate to win in order to keep their title hopes alive.
The talent available at the helm of Enzo Maresca for tomorrow's game cannot be overlooked, but Cole Palmer's absence will undoubtedly be a setback for the Chels.
