Chelsea's recent defeat against Leeds has been a reality check and an eye opener for the club in various aspects and the lack of a clinical and in-form striker is one of them.
As we approach the winter transfer window the Blues could be on the lookout for a goalscorer who would make an immediate impact and do the job which Liam Delap has seemingly failed to do so far.
Although after a summer spending of around £240 million, ranking them as the 2nd highest spending club in the EPL in the summer transfer window. Unfortunately it came at a cost as the Blues had to pay a penalty of €11 million for breaking the squad cost rules. Those rules say you can only spend a maximum of 80 per cent of your revenue on transfers and players' costs, such as wages and agent fees.
All these factors will come into play when the Chels go shopping during the winter transfer window and it might force them to let go of a few players who doesn't fit in Enzo Maresca's plans.
Loanee striker Nicolas Jackson might be one of those players who would have to make way for the new signings. The Senegalese international was loaned out to Bayern Munich for a fee of £14 million in the summer and has a buy-out clause of £56 million which the German club will most unlikely opt for as he has scored only five goals in the 19 games he has featured and chances will be hard to come by for him due to the presence of Harry Kane in Bayern's squad.
According to Fabrizio Romano (via his YouTube channel) the Blues will most likely part ways with 24-year-old striker before next season as he commented on the issue saying, "It might be in England, Aston Villa, Bayern, of course. Let’s see what they decide to do for Jackson. There will be a lot of interest. But at the moment, what I can guarantee Aston Villa wanted him last summer.
He also added,"That’s why I mentioned Aston Villa. Unai Emery knows the player well from Villarreal. But what I want to tell you is that between Jackson and Chelsea, the story is considered over."
As it stands Jackson's time at Chelsea is all but over despite their lack of a clinical striker upfront which Maresca will have to find a solution for as the Blues look to comeback to winning ways when they face Bournemouth this weekend.
