Arsenal seeks a title statement, but key absences and Chelsea's defensive resolve set the stage for a strategic, high-stakes London Derby clash.

Arsenal vs. Chelsea will be the main event in the Premier League. The Emirates Stadium will be the epicenter of the football world this Sunday, March 1, 2026, when Arsenal hosts Chelsea in a new edition of the London Derby.

The Gunners arrive as the undisputed leaders of the Premier League and seek to make a statement of authority that brings them closer to the title. At the same time, the Blues need to add points to consolidate their presence in European competitions.

Mikel Arteta has achieved a football harmony that has taken Arsenal to the top after thrashing Tottenham in the previous matchday. On the other hand, Liam Rosenior's Chelsea will try to capitalize on their recent defensive solidity to stop the local side's offensive onslaught, in a duel where the key words will be strategy and effectiveness during the London afternoon.

The league leader is going through an absolute purple patch. With 61 points obtained, Arsenal has transformed the Emirates into an impregnable fortress. The team just demonstrated its hierarchy by dispatching the Spurs 4-1, displaying high-flying associative football.

Despite leading, Arteta must manage the absences of Kai Havertz, Ben White, and Mikel Merino, who will not be available due to various physical issues. The focus will be on Viktor Gyokeres, who has become the league's most feared reference point.

Chelsea sits in sixth place in the standings and needs to close the gap on the leading pack. After a 1-1 draw against Burnley, the Blues have shown a notable improvement in their build-up play, although a lack of finishing has been their Achilles' heel.

Chelsea is no longer fighting for the title, but they are fighting for Champions League qualification, in a head-to-head battle with Liverpool and Manchester United. On the previous matchday, the Blues drew at home against Burnley 1-1, letting a couple of golden points slip away.

The first-half match was a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge. Trevoh Chalobah opened the scoring for Chelsea, while Mikel Merino scored the equalizer for Arsenal. Moises Caicedo saw a red card in that first meeting of this season.

Injuries and doubts for the match:

Wesley Fofana (suspension), Marc Cucurella (thigh), Estevao Willian (thigh), Dario Essugo (unspecified), Filip Jorgensen (unspecified), Jamie Bynoe-Gittens (thigh), Levi Colwill (knee).
