Chelsea aims to secure its spot in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Friday night when it faces Championship side Hull City.
Liam Rosenior, who both played for and managed Hull, will return to MKM Stadium and look to deal a fatal blow to his former employers, backed by a squad loaded with stars and major internationals.
Rotation is expected for the fourth-round clash on Friday as games come quickly for Chelsea, but Rosenior has plenty of quality to call upon for the trip north.
Chelsea’s predicted lineup vs. Hull (4-2-3-1):
GK: Robert Sanchez — With Jorgensen out and young Teddy Sharman-Lowe unlikely to feature, Sanchez will be between the posts.
RB: Josh Acheampong — At fault for Leeds’ equalizer Tuesday night, Acheampong could shift to right back to accommodate rotation.
CB: Mamadou Sarr — Rosenior revealed Sarr has a strong chance to start Friday night in what would be just his second Chelsea appearance. He was a regular under the Blues boss during the first half of the season at Strasbourg.
CB: Benoit Badiashile — Badiashile’s minutes have been limited, but with defensive injuries and possible rests for Trevoh Chalobah and Wesley Fofana, the Frenchman is likely to start.
LB: Jorrel Hato — Chelsea will hope Cucurella’s injury is not serious, as Hato has yet to convince as his deputy fully.
DM: Moises Caicedo — Essugo’s absence and Lavia’s likely omission limit Rosenior’s midfield rotation options, potentially forcing a start for Caicedo.
DM: Andrey Santos — The Brazilian has been a regular, trusted figure since Rosenior’s arrival, another who worked with the Chelsea manager at Strasbourg.
RW: Pedro Neto — Neto was relegated to the bench for the Leeds draw as Rosenior made the most of his wide options, but the Portuguese should be reinstated as he searches for his first goal since the third-round win over Charlton Athletic.
AM: Estevao — Long term, Estevao has been viewed as an attacking midfielder rather than a winger, and a chance to impress in that role could arise at Hull due to Chelsea’s stretched midfield.
LW: Alejandro Garnacho — After a brilliant start at Stamford Bridge, the inconsistent Garnacho has faded in recent weeks. He needs to catch Rosenior’s eye in the cup.
ST: Liam Delap — Delap scored eight goals on loan at Hull under Rosenior and will be eager to punish his former team with a goal or two on Friday. With Joao Pedro in scintillating form, the Englishman must shine in his rare starts.
