Chelsea fought through extra-time drama to reach the FA Cup quarter-finals. Take a look at the permutations for the quarter-final draw, taking place tomorrow

On Saturday evening, Chelsea progressed to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup with a 4-2 win over Championship high flyers Wrexham after extra-time. The gap had all the ingredients of a Hollywood script, but fortunately the Blues improvised the ending and managed to get through.

So, what does the landscape now look like in this year's tournament?

Chelsea have been joined in the quarters by fellow Premier League sides Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City. There are still four ties to play, and there could be four more top flight sides progressing to make it a very tough last eight.

The draw for the quarter-finals will take place on TNT Sports before West Ham United's clash with Brentford on Monday night. It is set to take place at approximately 19:00 GMT.

Truth be told, it has been far too long since Chelsea won the FA Cup. Their last triumph in the competition was back in 2018, after a 1-0 win over Manchester United thanks to some magic from Eden Hazard.

Before that, it was all the way back in 2012, after beating Liverpool 2-1. From 2007 to 2012, the Blues won the competition four times in six years. From 2020-2022, they lost three consecutive finals.

So, the club have gone close, very close, to replicating that previous success in the competition, but not quite got over the line. How great would it be to bring the oldest cup in the world back to SW6.

Sure, the team have won the Champions League, Conference League, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup in recent years, and that's great. But there has been an underperformance in domestic competitions for a while now. Whether that be the FA Cup itself, Carabao Cup or the Premier League.

However, as mentioned above, it will be very, very tough. The big hitters have managed to stay in the competition. The holders, Crystal Palace, were dumped out by non league Maccesfield, but in terms of the serious favourites, there are yet to be any scalps.

League One side Mansfield Town went very close against Arsenal yesterday, losing 2-1 in a very brave and valiant effort. But alas, there is a pretty strong chance that Chelsea get a very strong side in the quarter-finals.

The one hope could be that Arsenal and City fully focus on their title race. We saw Pep Guardiola rotate quite a lot for their win over Newcastle United yesterday - Erling Haaland wasn't even on the bench. If they play a similar side in a potential match up with Liam Rosenior's side, a lot of people would be happy.
