Discover Chelsea's training secrets: who's first to arrive, who the joker is, and who leads by example at Cobham.

Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez opened up in a fun, rapid-fire session, giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at life at Cobham.

When asked who is the first to arrive at the training ground, Sanchez didn't hesitate: "Reece [James]. The captain has to be; he leads by example."

On the social aspect, the Spaniard sticks close to his fellow Spanish speakers and the Brazilians during lunch, while during away games, he prefers a bit of solitude: "I sit alone at the front of the bus! I like it that way."

As for the team atmosphere, Sanchez revealed the team's biggest joker is none other than Marc Cucurella, who keeps everyone laughing all day.

Fans looking for social media inspiration should follow Cole Palmer, according to Sanchez: "He's always doing lots of things, so Cole for sure."

When it comes to matchday rituals, Sanchez keeps it simple: he checks his essentials, like water and a towel, and gets mentally prepared.

After the match, he heads straight to his family: "My dad and my mom. It depends on who answers my call first!"

Sanchez also had some witty opinions on his teammates' potential in other positions. If Chelsea needed an outfield player in goal, it would be Cucurella: "To be a goalkeeper you have to be ... So I think I'd give it to him."

And for a defender turned striker, Sanchez picks Tosin Adarabioyo, highlighting his ability to score with his head.

Since joining Chelsea in August 2023, Spanish goalkeeper Robert Sanchez has totaled 96 competitive appearances for the London club. During this period, Sanchez has conceded 112 goals and has kept a clean sheet on 32 occasions in all competitions.

In the current 2025-26 campaign, the goalkeeper has played 25 Premier League matches, recording nine clean sheets and making 65 saves, representing a save percentage of 70.7%.

His stats in the English league are complemented by one assist and a disciplinary record that includes two yellow cards and one red card. In addition to his activity in the domestic league, Sanchez has participated in the Champions League, the EFL Cup, and the Club World Cup, logging more than 3,000 minutes of play so far this season.
