Chelsea faces Wrexham in the FA Cup fifth round. Kick-off details are set, with a crucial quarter-final spot on the line.

Last Friday evening, Chelsea safely booked their place in the FA Cup fifth round, with a routine 4-0 win away to Liam Rosenior's former club as a player and as a manager, Hull City.

This win came despite several key players not just being rotated but also completely left out of the squad - with the likes of Cole Palmer taking the time off to recharge in Dubai.

The likes of Mamadou Sarr came in and impressed, and in general we saw encouraging signs regarding squad depth, after some concerning previous performances, such as the first half at home to West Ham United.

In a similar sense to the UEFA Conference League last season, you'd imagine that the further Chelsea go into the tournament, the more we will see the first XI come back into the side.

For the fifth round, Rosenior's side have been drawn away to a Championship side for the third time in a row, this time taking on Wrexham, who are looking for their fourth promotion in a row.

Although the North Wales side are below Hull in the league, many are suggesting this will be a tougher game. Phil Parkinson's team have already defeated Premier League opposition this season, when they overcame Nottingham Forest in the third round last month.

That game, like their fourth round tie - at home to Ipswich Town - was played under the lights at the Racecourse Stadium. As a result, many Blues fans were hoping that this game would not be one of the night slots, whether Friday or Saturday.

Well, they have got their wish. Indeed, as the kick off slots for the fifth round have now been confirmed. Chelsea's visit to Wrexham will kick off at 17:45 GMT/12:45 ET on Saturday, the 7th of March.

Although the game will be dark by full time, it won't be at kick off. Honestly, you may read this and think surely it doesn't make that much of a difference, but it can. Leeds United in the Premier League are a great example of this, which Chelsea know all too well.

For those in the UK, the game will be shown on TNY Sports 2, Discovery +, BBC One and on iPlayer. It will be the third game of the weekend, after Wolves vs Liverpool and Mansfield Town vs Arsenal.

A win will secure a quarter-final spot for just the second time since the Blues made the final in 2022. Let's see.
