Just a few days after Chelsea dropped points because key player Cole Palmer failed to score against an empty net against Leeds United in the Premier League, the young, talented Estevao did the same when facing Hull City in the FA Cup.
The 18-year-old Brazilian prodigy beat the Hull City goalkeeper, and, with his preferred left foot, it seemed that all that remained was a simple finish to score.
However, the nightmare returned for Chelsea fans when the winger's seemingly accurate shot sent the ball into the stands, with the score still 0-0.
On social media, many sarcastic comments immediately appeared suggesting that the young player Estevao was... "paying tribute" to his senior teammate Palmer.
Another account commented sarcastically: "Sarr's pass was superb, Estevao's run was also excellent. It's baffling how he could beat the goalkeeper and then miss the open goal."
Just a few minutes later, star player Liam Delap produced another incredibly disastrous play.
The former Ipswich striker pressed the rival goalkeeper, blocking the ball as it rebounded toward the Hull City goalpost.
The ball rebounded and seemed like it was going to cross the goal line, but as the FA Cup does not use VAR, the referee's room made no decision.
Even after approaching the rebound, he turned to look at the referee instead of shooting into the net. Instead, Liam Delap raised his hands in celebration.
"Shoot, for God's sake!" commentator Alan Shearer shouted on live television. The former star could not hide his frustration as Liam Delap allowed the rival goalkeeper and defense to retreat in time to make the save.
From the bench, coach Liam Rosenior looked stunned, holding his head in disbelief at the fact that his team had not yet taken the lead.
Social media remains full of mockery for the poor performance of the Blues, who have missed three clear goal-scoring opportunities in just a few days.
"Oh my God! What's going on? What the hell is Liam Delap doing?" one fan exclaimed.
Chelsea finally broke the deadlock thanks to a dangerous curling shot from the edge of the area by Pedro Neto in the 38th minute.
That also marked the beginning of a relatively easy night for the Blues, who closed out the match with a 4-0 victory, thanks to two more goals from Pedro Neto and the final goal scored by Estevao himself to redeem himself.
