Liam Rosenior has made his feelings on Enzo Fernandez clear amid rumours of a summer exit from Chelsea.

It has now been three years since that crazy transfer saga that saw Enzo Fernandez join Chelsea from Benfica in a €121 million move, soon after his World Cup triumph with Argentina. It would be safe to say that the midfielder has had his ups and downs at Stamford Bridge since then.

Fernandez started off his time at Chelsea, under the management of Graham Potter, as a deep-lying midfielder expected to dictate play. But over time, he has developed into more of a swiss army knify type of player.

The Argentine's game is less focused on dictating play these days, and instead on his effectiveness with both goals and assists.

That part of his game was developed under Enzo Maresca, but it does not look like Liam Rosenior has any plans to move away from it. The recent winner against West Ham United was just the most recent example of what he brings to the plate with his late runs into the box.

Fernandez is finally starting to get some of the credit that he deserves as well. Even Jamie Carragher recently placed him amongst the best in the Premier League.

That kind of attention has unsurprisingly come with transfer rumours as well. Speculation over a move to Real Madrid has never really gone away. And now, there are whispers in Spain that he is not happy about the weather in London.

Rosenior made his feelings quite clear when talking about Fernandez recently. He said: "He’s as fit as you saw against West Ham, arriving in the box in the 92nd minute.

"Enzo's got a rare athleticism, it’s a gift where he can recover really quickly. The distances he covers, in terms of the data, is absolutely top, as is the quality and the leadership he gives the team.

"I'm really enjoying working with him."

At times, questions have been raised about Fernandez's fitness. That has not stopped him from being Chelsea's most active player across all competitions so far this season.

Then there is the output, which is elite for someone playing his position. Fernandez has scored 11 goals and provided 4 assists across all competitions this season. In the previous campaign, he had 9 goals and 17 assists.

Do not forget the leadership qualities he brings to the table either. Whenever Reece James sits out, mostly as part of the club's load management strategy owing to his injury history, it is Fernandez wearing the captain's armband.

It is quite clear that Fernandez is an integral part of this Chelsea team and letting him go anytime soon should not even be a consideration.
