Stamford Bridge home advantage confirmed for Chelsea's clash against PSG. Key dates for the Round of 16 are now set.

Earlier on today, it was confirmed that Chelsea would face defending champions Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 next month.

It felt a harsh draw for the Blues, considering they had finished fifth in the league phase, but well, that's how the cookie crumbles some time. Liverpool finished top of the league phase last season, and still met PSG in the round of 16, and well, the rest is history there.

By virtue of finishing above their Parisian counterparts in the league phase, Chelsea in theory would have the advantage of having the second leg at Stamford Bridge. However, it was not so straightforward.

Indeed, as with fellow London sides Arsenal and Spurs also having second leg home ties, there were questions regarding police requests and potential trouble caused by fanbases.

Clarity has now been provided. Chelsea will indeed, as planned, have the second leg at Stamford Bridge, with the first leg at the Parc Des Princes. It has now been officially confirmed.

The away leg will be played on Wednesday, the 11th of March, and the home leg on Tuesday, the 17th of March. Arsenal will also play at home (to Bayer Leverkusen) on the 17th of March, whilst Spurs will play at home (to Atletico Madrid) on the 18th of March.

So, there we have it. Despite some potential doubt, Chelsea will 100% have the second leg at home, which is a huge advantage. Having the second leg under the lights at the Bridge, with (hopefully) it all to play for will be massive.

It will be a very intense schedule, with the first leg just six days before the second, and a Premier League home game against Newcastle in the meantime. Plus, the travelling from London to Paris and back is not ideal. The squad will certainly be needed.

On that note, this is how March now officially looks like for Liam Rosenior's side; Arsenal and Aston Villa (A, PL), Wrexham (A, FAC), PSG (A, UCL), Newcastle (H, PL), PSG (H, UCL), and Everton (A, PL).

The dates for the games, in respective order, are as follows: 1st, 4th, 7th, 11th, 14th, 17th, 21st. So seven games in twenty days. Furthermore, five of those games are away from home, including the first four. Plenty of travel both up North and to France. A potential extra-time against Wrexham and PSG too.

Tense, but very exciting stuff.
