Despite a tough loss, Reynolds asserts Wrexham played "better football," highlighting their ambitious journey against Chelsea's vast resources.

The fifth round of the FA Cup continues, bringing with it great stories. One of them was the advancement of Wrexham, the team of actor Ryan Reynolds, which recently fell to Chelsea, a situation in which the club’s owner was quick to speak.

The owner of Wrexham and portrayer of the Deadpool character from MARVEL Studios insisted that despite the loss on the pitch, his team showed ‘better football’ but acknowledged that facing a team like Chelsea is no easy feat, considering the type of players on its roster.

“We played better football than Chelsea, but our team wasn’t built with $2 billion,” the American actor and businessman said.

Reynolds has taken it upon himself to bring the club from the north of Wales to the highest level of competition, positioning it in sixth place in the Championship with 57 points and fighting for a spot in the league’s Top 5.

The London team defeated the team from the town of Wrexham 2-4 on the road; however, contrary to what the scoreline might suggest, the match was not so simple for Liam Rosenior’s men.

The game started with a goal from the home side by English striker Sam Smith as early as the 18th minute. The hosts managed to hold onto their advantage until the 40th minute; however, an own goal by their goalkeeper, Arthur Okonkwo, leveled the score.

The second half was a tight affair, full of extensions until the final 10 minutes, specifically in the 78th minute, when another goal for Wrexham made the home fans dream of a historic victory. Unfortunately, Josh Acheampong equalized just four minutes later and sent the match to extra time.

In the 30 minutes of added time, the introduction of the Blues’ starters made a significant difference, and with goals from Joao Pedro and Alejandro Garnacho, Chelsea’s victory was sealed.
