Disasi joined Chelsea from AS Monaco in the summer of 2023 and played 44 games in all competitions during his first season under coach Mauricio Pochettino. However, after the Argentine was replaced by Enzo Maresca, Disasi saw his playing time significantly reduced, playing only 17 games in the first half of the 2024-25 season before being loaned to Aston Villa.
The France international was expected to leave again during the summer transfer window, but he did not find another club and was therefore sent to train with Chelsea's "reserve team," which also included Raheem Sterling, away from the first team. Eventually, new coach Liam Rosenior reintegrated him into the first team before he left for West Ham on deadline day of the winter transfer window.
REUTERSOn West Ham's internal podcast, Disasi described his experiences at Chelsea and why he is grateful to have joined the Hammers.
"It has been very nice, my previous situation was a bit crazy. For me, being here only has positive aspects; it's fantastic to be a part of something," he said.
"At Chelsea, the time was a bit crazy, but my background helped me get through it. I stayed alert, worked hard, and always made sure to keep my head in the right place.
My family helped me a lot to get through this. During this period, I saw that my journey helped me a lot."
Disasi went on to say that his aunt is a West Ham supporter and would have preferred him to sign for West Ham rather than Chelsea.
He added: "My aunt is a West Ham fan, West Ham is her team. When I signed for Chelsea, she was happy, but she also said, 'Oh, I would have preferred West Ham.' Now that I'm here, she's happy."
Disasi had not played a single minute of competitive football this season until he arrived at London Stadium, and he has already played three games for his new club. West Ham, which is fighting to avoid relegation from the Premier League and sits in 18th place in the relegation zone, hosts Bournemouth on Saturday.
