A Chelsea defender's injury turned out to be less serious than expected; due to the scare from the image of the play, many speculated for a long time to be able to return to the pitch, but it turned out to be six weeks.

The 26-year-old defender caused great concern among the Stamford Bridge faithful after being carried off on a stretcher during the midweek defeat to Paris Saint-Germain. Fears of a long-term fracture intensified when Chalobah shared an image of his heavily bandaged leg on social media shortly after the final whistle.

However, subsequent tests have offered a slightly more optimistic prognosis than the initial fears that it was an injury that would rule him out for the rest of the season. Although the injury remains serious enough to affect the rest of Chelsea's season, the medical team anticipates a recovery period of approximately six weeks.

Speaking to the media before the trip to Merseyside, Rosenior admitted his initial concern after the match against PSG. However, he offered updated information on Chalobah's condition and stated that his injury was not as serious as initially thought.

"It wasn't until after the match that I saw the image. Then you really worry about the next day," the Chelsea coach explained, as cited by the BBC. "Obviously, it's never good for Trevoh to be sidelined for a while, but fortunately, it's not as serious as we initially feared."

Rosenior also referred to the condition of captain Reece James. He said, "A hamstring injury is never good news, and in Reece's case, we hope to be able to do some tests to determine the severity of the injury and thus know more, because we know how important he is and what a great leader he is within the group.

He felt something in his hamstring at the end of the match against Newcastle. It's really frustrating and a disappointment for us. We don't know the exact extent of the injury, but this rules him out."

The news comes at a delicate time for Chelsea, which has lost its last three matches in all competitions. A humiliating 8-2 aggregate defeat to PSG in Europe compounded the Premier League defeat to Newcastle, a run that has seen the Blues drop out of the top five and jeopardise their hopes of qualifying for next season's Champions League.

With only one win in their last five Premier League matches, the pressure on Rosenior to halt this bad run is increasing. The squad's tactical flexibility will be tested on Saturday at Goodison Park, where the Blues will look to get back on track.
