Chelsea's star attacker, feeling unsettled at Stamford Bridge, is considering a move back to the North.

Over recent years, Chelsea have become one of the biggest revolving doors in football. There have been a high number of incomings and outgoings in the last four years.

Since the current ownership took over, there have been a number of players who have been both signed and let go. Many have said this has led to a lack of continuity and sustainability on the pitch.

Recently, Chelsea has gained a reputation for giving out mega contracts to their players. It has meant they are stuck with some average players in the long term, but it also implies star players are tied down for the foreseeable future, and would be very hard to prize away from West London.

For example - Moises Caicedo has a contract until 2031, whilst Estevao has a contract all the way until 2033. So it will be a long time before the club even need to consider what they do next with those two - who many hope will positively shape the next era for the club.

One other player with a long term contract, and who is hoped to be the future of the club, is Cole Palmer. The attacking midfielder is currently tied down until the summer of 2023.

However, there could be a bump in the road. According to journalist Samuel Luckhurst, Palmer is unsettled in London, and is open to joining Manchester United. He states that he would "not entertain" a move back to Manchester City as long as Pep Guardiola is still manager.

Luckhurst reports that Palmer misses his hometown, Wythenshawe, and is often back up there to see his family and friends. Interestingly, he also mentions that United director of football Jason Wilcox was head of the academy at City when Palmer was breaking through.

So, slightly concerning to know that Palmer would be open to joining United, and with the report suggesting Guardiola is putting him off a return to City, you can't help but wonder what would happen if the Spaniard leaves City.

Nevertheless, the ball is firmly in Chelsea's court. As mentioned earlier, he still has seven more years remaining on his contract. To date, there has been no talk that Palmer has a release clause at any point.

Still, the club needs to be serious and give him the help he needs. Sure, he hasn't been himself recently, but he has often had to carry the side, and - particularly in the attack - has simply not had players on his level.

The idea of being the long-term Bruno Fernandes replacement could be pretty tempting to Palmer, especially with a move back home in the process. He was a United fan growing up - a photo of him in their 10/11 kit as a child did the rounds on social media a while back, and he has confirmed he grew up a fan in interviews.
