Another Ligue 1 Defender on Chelsea’s Shortlist cover image

After missing out on Jeremy Jacquet, Chelsea have shifted their focus back to Ligue 1. The Blues are now targeting PSG defender Lucas Beraldo, who could be tempted by a bigger role as Chelsea plan major defensive changes this summer.

Chelsea, in the January transfer market, lost a transfer battle against Liverpool regarding the young and talented French defender Jeremy Jacquet. But despite this loss, the Blues are still looking in the Ligue 1 in order to sign another defender to boost their defensive options.

Chelsea has already started planning their moves for the summer, where they will be very active. This way, they are looking again at the French league to find a new defender for their team. Now they are interested in PSG and are actively looking for their defender Lucas Beraldo.

Chelsea is interested in signing the Brazilian defender for different reasons, like his adaptability to play not only as a centre-back but also as a left-back. Beraldo has lost his place this season at the Champions League winner and isn’t anymore that central in the project of the French team as in the past.

The 22-year-old defender may be interested in leaving PSG this summer in order to get more minutes and have a central role in another club. Beraldo has been part of PSG since 2024 and has made 74 appearances in all competitions until now, with 4 goals scored. Also, the Brazilian defender has won different titles with the French club.

Chelsea have put the Brazilian at the top of their short list and are ready to start negotiations with PSG in order to make Beraldo a central part of their defensive line for the future. We need to wait and see if Beraldo will become the next Brazilian defender to come to Chelsea from PSG after Thiago Silva in 2020.
