After last summer’s rejection, the Blues may finally land their long-tracked midfield target. With injuries exposing weaknesses and the new manager rebuilding momentum, a decisive summer move could reshape the heart of the team and define the next chapter.

Chelsea started this season with the objectives to raise the level of their players and to continue winning new titles. They started the season as World Cup Champions and wanted to continue the successes had in the first season under Maresca.

But things didn’t go as planned this season. They had a lot of ups and downs this season with the former Italian manager, Maresca. For this reason, they decided to change the coach and to pass from Maresca to Rosenior.

Rosenior arrived from Strasbourg and had an enjoyable start to his tenure as the Blues' new coach. He has returned the club to positive results, and the players also seem to enjoy their time under the new coach.

The players are continuing their journey this season to achieve the club's objectives in the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League. But the club is also continuing to work on plans for the upcoming summer transfer market.

The directors are looking for players with different profiles across positions in the Premier League and other leagues in Europe and around the world. The project the Blues started a couple of years ago is to find young, talented players and bring them to Stamford Bridge.

This is the objective, but on the other hand, the club is ready to invest in more experienced players if they believe he can be a great addition to the team. One part of the field where the club is looking to invest is the midfield.

This season in midfield, they have had different problems due to player injuries, and for this reason, the club doesn’t want to be any more unprepared. So, for this role, the Blues are looking in Italy and are interested in Milan midfielder Fofana.

Fofana is a 29-year-old midfielder who has been with Milan since 2024, and his contract with the Italian team expires in 2028. Since his transfer to Italy, the French midfielder has played 76 matches for Milan across all competitions, scoring 2 goals and providing 12 assists. Instead, his stats this season are 24 matches played, with 1 goal scored and 3 assists.

The Blues were interested in Fofana last summer, but Milan wasn’t interested in selling their player. Instead, this time around, things seem to have changed, and it appears the Italian club is open to offers from other clubs for their player. This seems the perfect time for Chelsea to achieve an objective in the transfer market, as the club has been following the player for some time now.
