Chelsea eyes Polish prodigy Kacper Potulski. A strategic Strasbourg loan aims to hone his skills before a Premier League breakthrough.
At just 18 years old, Kacper Potulski is beginning to establish himself as one of the revelations of Mainz 05, the German club competing this season in the Conference League. The young Polish center back has been gaining space in the first-team rotation and has already accumulated 12 official matches, a notable figure for a footballer his age in a league as demanding as the Bundesliga.
His rapid adaptation and maturity on the field have not gone unnoticed. These early performances from the player have placed the Polish gem in the sights of major clubs. Something is always inevitable because several of these top-tier teams are beginning to emerge around this player, as SportMediaset now reports.
From Italy, Inter Milan and AC Milan are specifically mentioned, two historic giants looking to rejuvenate their defensive lines with future-focused profiles. Alongside them also appears Como, the project led by Cesc Fabregas, which likewise has requested detailed reports on the promising Mainz defender.
The list of suitors does not end there. Chelsea is also studying his acquisition and reportedly even has a defined roadmap: sign him and facilitate his development through a loan to Strasbourg in France’s Ligue 1. A plan designed to refine his talent and guarantee minutes before making the definitive jump to the Premier League.
Potulski has accumulated a total of 893 minutes on the pitch. In the Bundesliga, the 18-year-old records seven appearances and one goal, which he scored during the 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich on December 14.
He has also seen international action in the UEFA Conference League, where he has played five matches and 378 minutes of activity. On the disciplinary front, the Polish footballer has received two yellow cards in the domestic league and has no ejections. In addition to his role with the first team, Potulski participated in six matches with Mainz 05 II in the Regionalliga Südwest earlier in the campaign.
