Canada 0-0 Morocco Half-Time Thoughts
Canada has frustrated Morocco and, for the most part, has been the better side as Morocco has just about kept the score at 0-0.
The Atlas Lions have been unable to break through the intense pressure from Jesse Marsch's compact 4-4-2 setup. Whichever side of the pitch the ball goes, each player converges into that area and sniffs out any danger Morocco tries to offer.
The best chance of the game so far was from the very first big chance, which landed with Tani Oluwaseyi. It all began with a Moroccan goal kick, which was intercepted by left midfielder Ali Ahmed, who slipped in Oluwaseyi. He turned past Redouane Halhal with ease and forced Yassine Bounou into a big save.
Morocco faced another big blow, too. Star forward Ismael Saibari was forced off with an injury in the 23rd minute. His replacement, Soufiane Rahimi, had his side's first shot in the 28th minute, which was a flat shot from range which was easily scooped up by Maxime Crépeau.
The Atlas Lions had no answer for the pressure Canada put on them and will be hoping they can discover some fluidity and creativity in the second half. As for Canada, they will be hoping that the next time a chance comes up, they are much more clinical.
