France vs Sweden- Half-Time Thoughts: Mbappe Finds France Opener

In what has been a few days for upsets, seeing Netherlands and Morocco leave the competition already it has fell on France to try and get themselves through. In their way is a stubborn Sweden side, led by Graham Potter, trying to cause yet another upset.

We were expecting an exciting end-to-end game with both sides wanting to use their pace on the counter to get in behind, which Sweden have threatened with a couple of times. But, unsurprisingly, Les Blues have been the better side with the better chances.

It was Mbappe magic feet that find the games opener, following a clever corner kick routine.

Mbappe did find the back of the net again despite being slightly offside, and had a golden opportunity, where he just had to hit the target but dragged his effort onto the left post. It was Olise who hit the right post with an incredible acrobatic bicycle kick which was followed up by Dembele putting it wide.
