Netherlands 2-0 Tunisia Half-Time Thoughts: Netherlands Dominate

Jun 26, 2026 12:02 AM

At half-time, the Netherlands are currently cruising to a 2-0 victory against Tunisia, who will be hoping to end their disastrous World Cup with their heads held high. As it stands with Japan vs Sweden being level, Ronald Koeman's side will top the group.

However, it was Tunisia who had the first major chance of the game. Not even one minute had passed when Hazeem Mastouri sent in a dangerous cross that was thumped over the bar by Ismael Gharbi.

The Eagles of Carthage were punished for their miss two mintues letter. The ball found Denzel Dumfries on a marauding overlapping run, and his cross was driven into the goal by Tunisian captain Ellyes Skhiri.

In the seventh minute, Brian Brobbey doubled the Oranjes' tally. Tijani Reinjders fired in a free-kick to the far post for Virgil van Dijk to head across goal, which found Brobbey, who thumped the ball past Aymen Dahmen.

Just under the 12th-minute mark, Tunisia almost got one back. Yan Valery sent in an inch-perfect cross to Anis Ben Slimane, who headed the ball straight at Bart Verbruggen.

The rest of the half was dominated by the Oranje. However, the Tunisians slowly began to solidify themselves defensively and began to frustrate Koeman's side.
