Back in January of this year, fan favourite Casemiro announced he would be leaving Manchester United at the end of his four year contract this summer.
Nobody will forget just how good he was in his first season, as United finished third and won the Carabao Cup - the first time they had finished top four and won a trophy in the same season since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club in 2013.
Since then, his time at Old Trafford has been a bit more complicated, but he has managed to revive his United career of late, and will be leaving the club on very good terms.
The time feels right, but there is no doubt that the club will need to find a successor for him, both on and off the pitch. But, that will be extremely hard. So, who do they go for?
Well, Casemiro himself has an idea. According to Eduardo Burgos, he has recommended his compatriot, Bruno Guimaraes of Newcastle United, to the club.
Over the years, Brazil has often played a double pivot of Guimaraes and Casemiro, and, according to several reports, that is the midfield Carlo Ancelotti will use at the World Cup.
As for the fit at United, it's an interesting one. The Newcastle midfielder is clearly a very, very good player, but certainly different from his compatriot. The 28-year-old is known more for his work on the ball than off it.
He has played as the number six for Eddie Howe's side, and he is certainly solid defensively. Still, many Newcastle fans have called for him to be played further up the pitch as a number eight, getting on the ball in more advanced areas and creating chances for teammates.
Furthermore, he is not the most athletic player. You'd think that United would want someone mobile and dynamic to complement Kobbie Mainoo in the middle of the park, given it is one of his weaknesses.
The idea of Casemiro recommending his replacement does give the vibes of Ferguson recommending David Moyes to replace him at United. Let's hope that if Guimaraes is signed, it goes a bit better than that did.
As it stands, Guimaraes has a contract on Tyneside until 2028, so he would be entering the final two years of his deal. He also turns 29 later this year, so perhaps they will see it as a last chance to get a good fee for the player.
