Twenty-three-year-old Cole Palmer had a poor 2025 overall. All of that was masked because, in a few days — but the most important ones — he showcased his magical left foot. He did it against Real Betis in the Conference League final and, even more so, against Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup.
However, in the Premier League, he was not as consistent as usual, and his numbers dropped considerably. In the 2023/24 season, in 33 matches, he scored 22 goals and made 11 assists. In 2024/25, in 37 matches, he scored 15 goals and made 8 assists.
Good numbers, but clearly below what he had shown before. And in 2025/26, hampered by physical problems, he has four goals and zero assists in 12 Premier League matches. In the Champions League, one goal in one match.
Well, in recent weeks, the rumor in England that he is not happy in London has grown. He is happy at Chelsea, as he is a key player, but not in his day-to-day life in the city. In other words, he misses Manchester.
And, of course, he would not want to go to Manchester City while Pep Guardiola is there. So The Sun reports his wish is to end up at Old Trafford.
It would be a complex operation, as he is under contract until 2033 and his market value exceeds 120 million euros. But if his wish is to leave, we already know that players carry a lot of weight in these types of operations.
However, it would be after the World Cup and on the condition that the Red Devils qualify for European competitions. Of course, Manchester United views him as an attractive option.
Meanwhile, Cole Palmer missed the game against Crystal Palace due to a minor thigh complaint, as reported by journalist Kieran Gill.
The Blues playmaker trained normally after last Wednesday's game against Pafos, but late on, he felt this muscle complaint, and Chelsea preferred not to risk him, so he can arrive without difficulty for next Wednesday's game against Napoli.
