Back in the summer of 2022, Manchester United academy graduate Jesse Lingard left the club after 22 years, 232 appearances, and 35 goals.
It's safe to say that things have not gone as he would have expected since then. That summer, he joined newly promoted Nottingham Forest, but only made 17 Premier League appearances - 12 starts - without registering a single goal or assist in the competition.
He then left Forest upon the expiry of his 12-month contract in the summer of 2023 and remained a free agent until February of 2024, when he made a shock move to join South Korean side FC Seoul.
To give Lingard his due, things actually went quite well for him over there. In just under two years, he made 66 competitive appearances, scoring 19 times and registering 10 assists. He then left the club at the end of the 2025 South Korean season.
Since then, the former United attacking midfielder has been without a club, but it looks like he may have found himself a new home. Indeed, as numerous sources are reporting that Lingard is set to join Brazilian side Remo.
His potential new side have just been promoted to the Brasileiro Serie A, the top flight of Brazilian football, after 32 years away. This could make for some interesting opponents for Lingard.
For example, he could play former United teammate, Guillermo Varela, when Remo faces Flamengo. Or another former Red Devils teammate, Memphis Depay, when they face Corinthians. He could also face football legend Neymar when the team plays Santos.
This is another interesting move. He would not be the first player to move from East Asia to Brazil, with quite a few names having done so - notably Oscar from Shanghai Port to Sao Paulo in 2025, or Hulk, also from Shanghai Port, to Atletico Mineiro in 2021.
That said, for a non native to make the move - pretty rare to say the least. Nevertheless, it is all about what makes Lingard happy at the end of the day; that's what matters most.
When he joined West Ham United on loan in January of 2021, he scored nine goals and provided four assists in just 16 games, helping secure a Europa League spot for the Hammers, and getting himself back into England contention.
However, despite many people assuming he would return to the capital, he decided to stay at United and played just 569 minutes across all competitions throughout the season. He scored two goals in that time, one of which was against West Ham.
