Amorim exits after a dismal run. Darren Fletcher takes interim charge, facing immediate pressure to revive Manchester United's fortunes.

Manchester United has reportedly sacked their manager, Ruben Amorin, following their 1-1 draw against Leeds, which was also the sixth time the Reds came out of the game with only a point in their last 11 games.

The board's harsh decision came after not only a series of poor results but Amorin's post match press conference yesterday has also seemingly played a major role in the sacking of the Portuguese manager as he was quoted saying, "Every department, the scouting department, the sporting director, needs to do their job. I will do mine for 18 months and then we move on.".Unfortunately, Amorin won't be able to complete his remaining 18 months at Carrington, as the Manchester United board on Monday decided to part ways with him and is already looking at other options ahead of their derby against Manchester City later this month, prior to their game against league leaders Arsenal.

Darren Fletcher set to manage United against Burnley

According to The Athletic, United would travel to Burnley with Darren Fletcher as their interim manager, who hopes to improve the dressing room atmosphere. The former Reds player must address serious challenges as quickly as possible to turn the situation in Man United's favour.

Fletcher himself is a graduate of the Manchester United academy and played 300+ games for the club, winning numerous trophies during his playing career. He was also recently in charge of the U18 squad at United. Although the 41-year-old would be at the helm for the time being, the club management is already looking for a long-term solution, as various names are already floating.

Managers like Oliver Glasner, Thomas Tuchel, and  Xavi could be the ideal contenders to replace Amorin, but the most surprising of the available options could be Enzo Maresca, who also had to face the same fate as the Portuguese after falling out of favour with the Blues' management. But as things stand, nothing is decided as of yet, and the club would hope Fletcher to bring home all three points after Wednesday's game against Burnley and keep their top-four hopes alive in the Premier League this season.
