Legend Paul Scholes urges rising star Kobbie Mainoo to seek greener pastures, questioning the club's mismanagement of young talent.

In the past few years, many Manchester United talents have emerged from the club's prestigious academy, but none of them were able to make it big in their boyhood club. Surprisingly, most of them found success elsewhere.

The same youth academy which produced players like Paul Scholes, David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville and countless other legends who have played their part in creating history at United.

The famous class of 92' were instrumental in the Reds' dominance in English football during their time at United. Unfortunately the club has failed to replicate that historic era as players like Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay, Mason Greenwood and others have all failed to succeed in Manchester.

The club's mismanagement of the youngsters, which has been pointed out by various club legends, seems to be the root cause.

Players Moved On

Alejandro Garnacho is the latest example of this negligence as he left for Chelsea during the summer. Although there had been some major push-back from the players,  it seems another young talent is on the verge of exit in the upcoming winter transfer window.

Kobbie Mainoo

20-year-old Kobbie Mainoo is currently finding life hard at Manchester United as he is yet to start a game under Ruben Amorin in this season's Premier league.

Mainoo was a breakout star. He was included in England's squad for the 2024 Euro's, and even started the final against Spain. The Three Lions eventually lost the match 2-1.

Amorin has justified Mainoo's lack of game time saying thr youngster's position is similar to Bruno Fernandes. Both are Midfielders for ManU,  but some critics have found it hard to make sense of the Manager's decision. Amorin simply does not give Mainoo enough minutes.

Man U Legends Speak Out

As reported by METRO, Paul Scholes recently put his views forward in The Good, The Bad & The Football saying, "Ruben Amorim has said Kobbie Mainoo is a starter… every appearance he’s made in the Premier League has been as a sub. Things like that wind me up."

He also added, "Do you know what? You’d have to advise him to go [to Chelsea], wouldn’t you?’ Scholes admitted.‘If he rang me and said “look, Chelsea are interested, what do you think?” I’d say go all day long.’"

Another United legend Nicky Butt has also been critical of the club's management of Mainoo as he lashed out saying, "For his football career he has to leave United, he’s lost 18 months of development. I hope he goes abroad because it’s embarrassing if he goes to Chelsea, which could happen. He could quite easily end up at Chelsea next season."

Both Scholes and Butt have mentioned a move to Chelsea a possibility for Mainoo, but with the winter transfer window closing in, thers is much to be seen. One thing is for certain. Mainoo wants to play, and win.
